PCSO MONTHLY WARD UPDATE
Welcome to your monthly Hangleton & Knoll Ward update by Beat PCSO Sharon Baker for the month of January.
Ward Priorities Speeding Vehicles, Non-Compliant Electric Bikes, Anti-Social Behaviour
Ward Update Currently some key concerns in the area include: Speeding vehicles in the 20mph speed limit area. Modified electric bikes that are not just power assisted, speeding on roads and pavements. Smell of drugs in communal areas and flats and verbal abuse. Speeding vehicles remain a risk to drivers and pedestrians, if you witness this happening please submit a report on the Op Crackdown website . The website can be used to report anti-social driving and abandoned vehicles in Sussex. www.operationcrackdown.org If you witness speeding electric bicycles, please also make a report with as much detail as you can. Dates and times will help to build a picture of the areas of most concern and action can then be taken. This can be reported on the non emergency number 101, or Sussex Police website. www.sussex.police.uk – report a crime. Police often receive reports of the smell of cannabis, not only is cannabis a class B drug and illegal, also the smell can affect those who live nearby. Police work with their partners and appropriate action can be taken. Unfortunately, the month of January saw further burglaries/attempt burglaries within our area and a total of 6 were reported. This number is high in comparison with last years figure for January. Please remember to keep all doors and windows secure and check these regularly, a Ring Doorbell is also very useful to detect unwanted visitors or persons accessing areas they shouldn’t be. A light on a time switch is also a good idea to put off would be burglars.
Incidents of Note / Any other Business Police received calls in relation to a female seen injecting herself in a public area. If anything like this is seen, please report immediately so we can deal with the person at the time of the incident. Other reports include a car window broken, a jogger bitten by a dog, male with a ladder looking into windows (this turned out to be a council worker clearing gutters), abusive Facebook posts, car window forced down and broken, eggs thrown and verbal abuse at school gates.
