Sussex Alerts - Eastbourne Police Violence against women & girls (VAWG) awareness event at The Beacon.

Violence against women & girls (VAWG) awareness event at The Beacon.

Joined by partners and support organisations; officers and staff from your Eastbourne Neighbourhood Policing Team held a day of VAWG awareness on Friday 8th August.

In addition to raising awareness of the crimes affecting predominantly women & girls, and detailing the help and support available; police and partners were on hand to offer practical advice and tools, and showcase just some of the work being conducted to help tackle violence against women and girls (VAWG).

In Eastbourne this includes additional both police and volunteer led late night patrols, the work being conducted alongside night-time venues, continued awareness raising of ongoing schemes like ‘Ask For Angela’, as well as highlighting dedicated ‘safe-spaces’ which have been set up at venues across the town, all aimed at identifying, protecting and safeguarding vulnerable women and girls across the town.

With a huge thanks to supporting partners from Agal Wellbeing Services, Victim Support, Mother’s Union, HERSANA and local council members for joining on the day.

Whilst women and girls are predominantly affected by such crimes, we know that violent and sexual assaults can affect anyone.

We take all reports of domestic abuse, violence or sexual assault very seriously, if anyone has been a victim of such crimes, will do everything we can to support them.
