News and Updates for Rother

With the warmer weather, you may choose Camber beach as the beach to visit this summer.

Camber is very popular and often has over 20,000 visitors a day with limited car parking spaces and amenities.

On these days the roads leading into Camber become congested very quickly with up to a 4 hour wait in traffic, which means you’re more likely to be sitting in a hot car than on a hot beach.

Please remember  –

🥛 Take plenty of water with you in case you get stuck in traffic.

📱 Plan ahead for your trip to the beach. Download the FREE Beach Check UK app, and you’ll be able to view congested areas and avoid getting stuck in traffic or missing out on your day to the beach.

🚩 Stick to walking on dry, compact sand. As soon as you feel it start to become soft, turn around and retrace your steps.

🗄️ please take your rubbish home with you when out visiting our beautiful beaches and green spaces

If you’re in trouble in the water, remember #FloatToLive. Lean back and use your arms and legs to help you float (like a starfish). #RespectTheWater

Being a victim of burglary can be deeply distressing and affect your sense of safety. Even one incident can impact an entire community. Here are some simple steps to help protect your home and belongings:

Inside your home:

  • Always lock your doors, even when you're in.
  • Consider installing a burglar alarm or CCTV.
  • Keep windows closed or fit restrictors if left open. Strong locks make a big difference.
  • Use timer switches to leave lights or radio on when you're out.
  • Keep valuables and car keys out of sight and away from doors or letterboxes.
  • Outside your home:

  • Lock away ladders and tools that could help someone break in.
  • Keep sheds and garages locked.
  • Trim back overgrown shrubs to remove hiding spots.
  • Never leave spare keys in obvious places like under pots or in the letterbox.
  • Secure side and back gates with locks that can’t be accessed from outside.
  • If you see or hear anything suspicious, please call us on 101. If someone is trying to break in, call 999 immediately. For more advice, visit here
