Arrests Last week, officers made a total of 10 arrests across the district.
2 individuals were arrested for assault in Uckfield and Herstmonceux.
We arrested 2 drivers for being behind the wheel whilst over the drink-drive limit in Horam and Hailsham.
1 person was arrested for theft from another person in Stone Cross.
We also made three arrests in connection with the suspected theft of a vehicle from Eastbourne.
The driver of a yellow Ford Fiesta failed to stop for police in Peacehaven, then drove dangerously at high speed.
Specialist officers from the Roads Policing Unit deployed a spike strip to deflate the tyres near Litlington, and the vehicle stopped shortly afterwards.
Officers made three arrests, with the help of Sonny the police dog who found one suspect hiding in a nearby garden.
We can confirm that two men were charged with aggravated vehicle taking and appeared in court on Monday. Read more about the incident here https://orlo.uk/L0F6A
Appeal We are appealing for witnesses following a report of indecent exposure in Polegate.
Just before 9pm on Tuesday 19 November, a woman reported being approached by a naked man in Park Croft. The man then followed the woman to her front door and tried to kiss her. The man walked off when the woman’s father appeared.
Prior to this incident, a man was seen walking around the Polegate area naked.
A 32-year-old man from Polegate was later arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and outraging public decency and released on bail while police continue with their enquiries.
We believe there are other occasions that a man has been seen naked in public.
We would like to hear from anyone else who was in the area at the time of the incident or who recalls seeing a man exposing himself in public in the Polegate area.
Please report it online or by calling 101, quoting serial 1252 of 19/11.
Fraud Awareness What a turn out!
On Wednesday evening (15th), PCSO Choppin visited the Women Institute at Cinque Ports, Uckfield to talk all things fraud.
Approximately 50 women attended, all keen to hear our tips and tricks on how to stop fraud and prevent falling victim to scammers.
Thank you to all who came along. We hope that what we shared will help spread awareness on the various types of fraud, and go a long way in keeping our communities safe.
We often offer scam talks across the district. If you feel as though this could be beneficial to you, please get in touch!
Advice We are advising owners of Ford Fiestas to review their vehicle security, storage, and parking locations in Wealden.
It follows reports of Ford Fiestas being targeted by thieves using specialist tools to gain entry in recent weeks.
We have located and returned a number of stolen vehicles in the East Sussex area, but are highlighting the incident as a warning to owners.
Tips to protect your car are: • Park your vehicle in sight of your home or inside a garage; or where there is street lighting or CCTV. • Use a steering lock, often highly visible from outside the vehicle, acting as a deterrent to potential car thieves, as well as preventing the steering wheel from being turned. • Consider ‘blocking’ the vehicle in with the use of a second vehicle or fitting a ghost immobiliser. • Re programme your keys if you buy a second hand car, or if buying second hand check that the key blade is cut and works, by testing it.
If you see or witness anyone acting suspiciously around parked vehicles in your community, report it to police at the time by either calling 101, or reporting online (non-emergency).
Information can be reported on the Sussex Police website or by calling 101, and quoting Operation Mainland.
