Independent Advisor - https://www.lumesse-engage.com/policejobssurreyandsussex/jobs/independent-adviser-sysx-exp00075-2 Independent Advisors are members of diverse communities from across the Force area who provide advice and make recommendations to the Police on how policy and services affect different groups. The role of an adviser is to: Assist the police in shaping service delivery to meet the needs of diverse communities, and create an anti-discriminatory police service Provide guidance and feedback about the potential and actual impact of policing on different groups, and act as a ‘critical friend’ challenging conventional thinking and offering an independent perspective on issues. The role is a volunteering role. Independent Advisors are committed to improving relationships between the police and communities by using their expertise and life experiences to objectively appraise policies, procedures and operational activities. Advisors are individuals who live in Sussex and who are able draw on their knowledge and experience of the county when providing advice. When you apply please answer the below question in your application: Do you have lived experience as a diverse member of society in Sussex? Do you work within the community or any organisation supporting local communities, and what does your work involve? Why do you want to volunteer for Sussex police as an Adviser? Do you work with any Diverse communities? How will you deliver any messages to the local community? Who can volunteer? To volunteer you must be aged 18 or over, and have been a UK resident for a minimum of three years. If you are under 18, you may be interested in volunteering as a https://www.sussex.police.uk/police-forces/sussex-police/areas/careers/jobs/volunteer-police-cadets-vpc/ You must disclose any previous convictions, and consent to Sussex Police doing a standard National Police Vet Level 2 check (please note that having a criminal record will not necessarily exclude you from being considered for volunteering. Failure to disclose a criminal record which later becomes known will lead to instant dismissal from a volunteering role). Applicants will be subjected to the same criteria as all members of the force. Further checks may be required depending on the Volunteer role being undertaken. Applicants will not be accepted as Volunteers where there is a conflict of interest in their professional life or another volunteering role. As part of their application, therefore, they are required to disclose the nature of their employment or details of other voluntary work undertaken.
