08/11/2024 Arrests Officers made a total of 13 arrests last week.
We arrested 7 individuals for assault across Hailsham, Hellingly, Buxted, Maresfield and Polegate.
2 were arrested for criminal damage in Stone Cross and Wadhurst.
There was also 1 arrests made for attempted burglary in Hailsham.
Other offences included theft from a shop and robbery. Tool theft from vans We’ve received several reports of thefts from vans overnight within the Hailsham and surrounding area and are investigating all lines of enquiry.
Patrols will be increased throughout the district where officers will be on hand to provide advice and reassurance, with flyers that can be displayed within vehicles to advertise that nothing of value is kept within. PCSO Thompson and PCSO McDonagh were out and about Wednesday evening visiting various stores and businesses following reports of tool theft from vans.
We have provided flyers to be displayed in vehicle windows to act as a deterrent to thieves, and had various discussions offering preventative advice and reassurance.
Our advice at this time is for tools and items of value to be stored away from vehicles, where possible and any CCTV is fully operating to aid investigation.
We are all too aware of the devastating impact these offences have on people’s livelihoods and are supporting victims and the wider community while our investigations continue. We urge anyone with information, including ring doorbell or CCTV footage, to contact us on 101 quoting Operation Kansas. Operation Downsway Have noisy or speeding vehicles been a problem where you live? We want to know about it!
You can help us by filling in this survey and telling us what’s happening on the roads in your local area.
This information will help us build a picture of where we need to tackle road safety issues and how we monitor our summer road safety intensification, Operation Downsway.
This year, every weekend between April and September officers from teams across the force have taken part in the dedicated operation, providing a highly visible and unmarked presence on the road network in Surrey and Sussex, engaging, educating, and taking enforcement action where necessary.
By engaging with road users, we aim to continue to reduce the number of collisions and deaths on our roads.
The survey will be live for the whole of November, and can be found here http://spkl.io/6183fT6v5 Hate Crime Awareness Week Sussex Police engaged with thousands of people and increased awareness of hate crime during an awareness week.
