Bexhill museum gifted artefacts

Bexhill museum has been gifted a number of historic military artefacts surrendered to Bexhill police station earlier this year.

PCSO Holter, renowned for his dedication to rural crime and heritage matters, proudly sought permissions for the items to gifted to the Bexhill Museum.

Julian Porter, Bexhill Museum curator said; “we are very happy to accept a small number of historic artefacts following their surrender to local police. The museum has an ongoing commitment to preserving such items for historical significance, as well as public education and appreciation, thank you’

PCSO Holter who visited the museum when they were donated said he firmly believes that preserving and providing access to our collective heritage is essential for fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation among our local communities, and is thrilled these items are now in safe keeping and being made accessible to local residents and visitors to the museum.

Cash boost for Sidley Woods Project.

PCSO Daryl Holter presented a £1,000.00 to David EP Dennis of Bexhill Wild CIC to be used on the Sidley Woods Project.

The community project aims to clean the stream bed of pollution, create leaky dams, deepen pools and plant more trees, flowers and hedgerows. They hope to also widen the footpath by the stream to allow better access and to install benches too.

David Dennis of the Bexhill Wildlife CIC who received the donation of £1000, from Sussex Police thanks to PCSO Holter, who was able to secure a grant from the Police Property Act Fund, made up of monies received by the police from property confiscated by order of the court and then sold.

In picture, PCSO Holter, David Dennis, his partner Ellen Garner and retired Bexhill Town Councillor Julie Norris who lives in Sidley and supports the project.

Hate Crime Awareness Week 2024.

During Hate Crime Awareness Week, our officers have been out and about across the country, speaking to communities about not only the effects hate crime can have, but also how victims can report and get support.

One of our Rother PCSOs, PCSO Nasir has been out this week in Bexhill, visiting and speaking to a number of community members, local businesses, as well places of worship and faith, seeking to better understand any barriers faced by communities, highlighting actions taken by police following reporting, as well as where local support and organisations can be found for all victims of hate crime.

This week he met with a number of local shop owners, and small businesses, as well as attending Bexhill Mosque, where he met The Imam and worshipers earlier this week.

PCSO Nasir, who is also our Syrian, Afghan and Ukrainian family liaison officer, and a First Place of Worship liaison officer said:

“My role is to encourage communities that are affected to report incidents of hate crime so we can understand the dynamics of hate crime and get a better picture of it.

I encourage victims to speak out and it's important we continue to do this, I also see my colleagues go above and beyond to help and understand the negativity of hate crime”.
