Hailsham Police Station Update

The front office at the Hailsham Police Station is currently closed due to a building defect.

Uckfield and Crowborough Police stations will be open as usual, with opening times listed here on our website here http://spkl.io/6183fPudP

We'd like to thank you for your patience, and will inform you all once the station is back open to the public.

Youth engagement

It was a busy week for PC Dudley and PC Upton, our NYOs (Neighbourhood Youth Officers), last week. Here's what they got up to...

On Monday 1st, we were at Hailsham Community College with our knife arch to raise awareness of knife crime. We had educational conversations with students on the laws surrounding knife carrying and the impacts it can have on lives and our communities.

We were also with the students at break and lunchtime engaging with them further on the playground. There were lots of questions asked, and lots of requests to be handcuffed.

Officers also attended Willingdon Community School on Tuesday 2nd, and Uplands Academy on Thursday 4th. Both events were again to engage with students during breaktimes, talking to them about our role and what we do, where they can go for advice, and how to stay safe while out and about.

Huge thank you to all the students for engaging with us so well throughout the week, we're looking forward to supporting you all throughout this next academic year!

Wealden Cadets

We're extremely proud of our *nationally recognised* Wealden Cadets!

The group of under-18 volunteers (not pictured!) were runners-up for a national award for educating their peers about violence against women and girls.

Fostering healthy attitudes and culture among young people - especially boys - is so important to protecting women and girls.

PCs Ian Codling and Zak Hayns (both over 18!) were on hand to pick up their certificate.

Claires Law

Are you worried that a friend or family member is suffering domestic abuse?

Clare's Law gives you a way to make enquiries about an individual who is in a relationship with someone you know and you are concerned their partner may have a history of domestic abuse.

Signs of domestic abuse will include at least one of the following

Emotional abuse
Isolation
Intimidation or threats
Economic abuse
Control
Physical abuse
Sexual abuse

You can make an application under Clare's Law if you are worried about a friend or relatives current or ex-partner. The police will carry out checks and will refer any information to a local multi-agency panel for a decision about whether to make a disclosure.

You can find out more here http://spkl.io/61844CSNn
