Appeal

Police are appealing for witnesses following a collision in Heathfield.

Officers were called to a report of a collision involving a Nissan X Trail, Vauxhall Vivaro and Ford Fusion on Little London Road shortly after 1pm on Wednesday, 3 July.

The driver of the Vauxhall, a 55-year-old man from Bexhill, and passenger of the Vauxhall, an 18-year-old man from Fairlight, suffered serious injuries and were taken to hospital. They have since been discharged.

A 53-year-old man from Mayfield, the driver of the Ford, suffered minor injuries.

The driver of the Nissan, a 42-year-old woman from Heathfield, was uninjured.

Police are investigating the collision and are trying to establish the full circumstances of the incident.

Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

Information or footage can be reported to Sussex Police online or emailed to collision.appeal@sussex.police.uk quoting Operation Tipton.

Bike seized

Following numerous reports of anti-social behaviour involving bikes across south Wealden, we are pleased to report that after some great policing from our officers, the bike in question has been seized.

PCSO Davidson and PCSO Nicoll located the bike along Station Road, Hellingly, yesterday evening whilst on patrol.

The bike was seized under Section 165 of the Road Traffic Act due to having no tax, no insurance and no number plate. On top of this, the driver in question was only 12 years of age.

Based on previous reports and descriptions, we suspect that this same bike was being used across the areas of Horsebridge, Hellingly and Hailsham - specifically the Country Park off Gleneagles Drive.

We'd like to thank the public for their support in helping us locate and identify the youths in question.

Our Neighbourhood Policing Team work tirelessly to prevent and deter anti-social behaviour across the district, and we encourage the public to continue reporting to us should anything happen that we need to know about.

OK9 Dogs No photo description available.

Meet Maggie and Milo, two of our Welfare and Trauma support dogs (OK9) working with Sussex Police.

We were lucky enough to get a visit from these pooches on Tuesday at the Crowborough station!

Owned by one of our Chief Inspectors, Maggie and Milo visit staff all across the district, providing relief for officers and staff who have demanding and often dangerous jobs.

It's proven that stroking a dog releases Oxytocin (the love hormone) in both the human and the dog, as well as increasing the hormones serotonin and dopamine. The three combined help elevate moods and reduce anxiety - making them the perfect companion at work!

Thanks for all the cuddles - we can't wait to have you visit again!

Seatbelt safety

We all know we need to wear our seat belts, and however tempting it might be to not wear them, even on a quick drive – it’s not worth the risk.

Even on short journeys, the unexpected can happen. Wearing a seat belt can reduce the risk of death in a serious crash by up to 50%.

Belt up and save yourself a fine, and more importantly, your life.
