Sussex Police Crime Alert and Call to Action


Good morning Neighbourhood Watch

 

We are continuing to receive reports of commercial vans being broken into across the Adur and Worthing area, where doors are being drilled and tools stolen. 

 

Op Dakota is a targeted investigation into these incidents and we will continue to provide crime prevention advice across our media channels.

Adur

Firle Rd, Lancing WW3003 - Commotion heard at 0415hrs. Informant has found his van damaged to both side doors, looks like a crowbar was used. Nothing stolen. 

Church Close, Lancing WW3003 - Hole found in the sliding door and tools stolen from van overnight. 

Old Shoreham Rd, Lancing WW3003 - 22/04-23/04 - Van broken into outside house and damage caused to sliding door.  No mention of anything stolen. 

Old Shoreham Rd, Lancing WW3003 - 2nd time in last month. Overnight locks on all 3 doors have been prised open, damage to the rear door only. Tools stolen. Neighbour CCTV shows image and PCSO will conduct house to house enquiries. 

 

Worthing

Gratwicke Rd, Worthing WW1001 - Theft of tools from van overnight. 

South Farm Rd, Gaisford, Worthing WW2008 - Van broken into via the side door overnight. A disc cutter was stolen.

Ripley Rd, Marine, Worthing WW1003 - Informant found van outside address with a hole drilled in rear door near handle. No access gained. No CCTV locally. 

Upper Brighton Rd, Offington, Worthing WW2009 - At 0457hrs CCTV sees suspects with covered faces access 2 works vans by drilling into the rear doors. The second van alarm sounded and the suspects left. Tools stolen.  

Collingwood Rd, Castle, Worthing WW2006 - Ford Ranger broken into overnight and tools stolen. Rear door lock broken. Similar incident in Dec 2023 which was not reported.  

Heene Rd, Heene, Worthing WW1002 - Large gash cut into side of panel van overnight however nothing stolen. Parked next to petrol station which should be covered by CCTV. 

Normandy Rd, Gaisford, Worthing WW2008 - Attempt to access van by hole being drilled near to lock on back door.
